It should be noticeable from the first peek, by looking at the desktop taskbar: if it is transparent, much like in higher Windows 7 editions, it means the modifications were properly performed. Besides, it takes just a few seconds to deploy, after which a reboot operation is required in order to apply the settings. In order to be able to carry out its job, the application needs full permissions, which is why it is recommended to disable all antivirus modules while running it. It comes in a lightweight package and requires very little user intervention. Such a solution is Personalization Panel (Aero Patch), a small utility that performs a few modifications to some system files and the registry in order to achieve its goal. However, there are a couple of workarounds, materialized in third-party software, which are able to implement transparency capabilities with few efforts. Unlike other editions of Windows 7, such as Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate, Windows 7 Starter and Home Basic are presented with the fewest features that do not include Aero options. Personalization Panel (Aero Patch) is a reliable solution for enabling Aero effects and themes on Windows 7 Starter and Home Basic, which normally do not sport transparency features.
